Printronix 7000 Escape codes
« on: December 08, 2015, 09:24:13 am »
How do I get a larger font on a Printronix line printer?
In my memory long ago and far far away, there use to be Escape codes to get a Printronix line printer to Bold and to double the size of the font.  I can recall the details.  I searched my programs and found.
DOUBLE.WIDE.ON   = ESC: W1
DOUBLE.WIDE.OFF = ESC: W0
DOUBLE.HIGH.ON   = ESC :w1
DOUBLE.HIGH.OFF = ESC: w0
DOUBLE.STRIKE.ON = ESC:G
DOUBLE.STRIKE.OFF = ESC:H

But after trying these they failed to provide my needs.  Its possible they worked on older printers but not the new ones.
Any ideas how to get larger print on the Printronix?

The codes you listed appear to be correct for the Printronix P7000 H-Series printers.  Additional useful codes I found were:

Esc:"E" - Bold On / Esc:"F" - Bold Off
Esc:"4" - Italic On / Esc:"5" - Italic Off
Esc:"-0" - Underline Off / Esc:"-1" - Underline On
Esc:"P" - 10 cpi / Esc:"M" - 12 cpi / Esc:"g" - 15 cpi

These are all listed as being part of the KSSM Emulation.  It's possible your printer isn't configured with the correct emulation.

I found this information online at this link:

One thing to watch out for is carriage returns after the code.  I've seen situations where the code only worked with a trailing <cr>, and other times when a printer code only worked without it.
