UniData Upgrade - Any concerns?
« on: February 12, 2013, 09:38:28 AM »
We are upgrading UniData from 6.1.8 to 7.2.0
Are there concerns we should be aware of?
If our software (Prelude) is certified for the upgrade, should we be concerned at all?
What should we be looking for?
At the beginning of my research it appears that people are suggesting upgrading to 7.2.9 because of various issues with earlier versions.
Any other suggestions?

There are always issues with different versions of Unidata, which isn't a bad thing, but more just a reality.  Get the release notes for all of the releases that are after the release that you are interested in and see if there's any deal breakers that would warrant going to a higher release.  For example, there was a release a while back that had problems with indexing.  I would definitely skip that one.  (Don't remember which release that was, but it was an earlier 7, as I recall.)  If the later release notes deal with features you're not using, then you may be fine coming up on 7.2.0 without the patches.
