Red Leaf 4.1 Released!
« on: January 01, 2012, 01:00:40 PM »
Happy New Year my friends!

Since the release of version 4 back in September, we've had a number of requests for Red Leaf enhancements.  Most of these requests have not been big enough to justify a full release on their own, but together they represent some really nice improvements.

All of these features will be in the upcoming version 5 (still tentatively scheduled for March) but we're starting the new year off right with a 4.1 point release to roll out many new and improved features.  Here's some details about the new release:

  • This release is now available and is recommended for all Red Leaf users.
  • There is no additional charge for this release.
  • All of the changes are on the Prelude side – there are no web updates with this release.

In this release you'll find:

  • The product export download now works with both SBClient and AccuTerm.
  • A new program (/RL. PRODUCT.REBUILD) has been added for updating Red Leaf products, availability flags, keywords, etc.
  • We now have a routine that can be plugged into Universal Product Replacement and Merge for updating Red Leaf products when the Prelude products are merged and changed.  (Note that this requires a small change to the stock Prelude code to incorporate our logic.)
  • Outbound email can now be enabled and disabled for specific users using a new access code (SendEmail).
  • Outbound email can be configured to send to multiple recipients.  Prior to this, each outbound email went only to a single recipient.
  • We've added a new access code (DirectConvert) that allows a cart to be converted to a quote or order directly from the web, even faster than with AutoConvert!
  • The product import programs have been enhanced to a) make a backup copy of the products changed, just in case something doesn't quite go to plan, and b) to log any errors that might have occurred during the updates rather than stopping the update at the first error.
  • The maximum number of data rows returned to the web – which has historically been a single parameter in the site configuration – can now be overridden for individual users and query types.  With this change we can now control the number of products to be returned to the web separate from the number of orders, quotes, and invoices, and override each setting for individual users!
  • We're debuting a (currently hidden) feature that will allow users to expand upon the name/value information that can be inserted into outbound email messages.
  • We also found and corrected a couple of "issues":
    • We corrected an issue where the product export wouldn't export a product from the catalog (NS.PRODUCT) file.
    • We corrected an issue where the division and region codes weren't being properly updated on carts converted to quotes and orders.
    • We corrected an issue with the order and quote "repeat" feature where items that were on past orders but are now on a restricted product list were being added to the cart and then could not be removed from the cart.  Now the restricted items won't be added to a cart on a repeat, and if an item is on a cart and then gets restricted, it can be removed from the cart.
    • We corrected an issue with the option export skipping Red Leaf products with no options.
    • Each Red Leaf user ID is no longer restricted to be capital letters only.  Both upper and lower case letters can now be used.

These are just a few of the many cool things happening with Red Leaf.  More news to come!
