Prelude Support / Re: output options
« Last post by precisonline on July 19, 2019, 05:20:46 PM »
To answer this question we have to first establish that there are two different types of reports in Prelude.  There are the /RD reports, built with the SB+ ReportWriter, and then reports that are written in hand-coded BASIC.  The ReportWriter has a series of features, which is why OUTPUT.REDIRECT allows output to screen, print, aux, CSV, DIF, etc.  But the BASIC routines written by Epicor dont' support all this functionality.  Hence the difference.

This isn't going to be something that's easy to change without a lot of effort.  Each BASIC routine is completely standalone, compared to the SB+ ReportWriter reports that use a common infrastructure.

Is the name of the process and /URM the same?  I've seen this happen when one URM is used to run a process by another name.

Those records in DEVWORK are created by the SB+ ReportWriter when you're outputting to the DIF file format, I believe.

Does anyone know about the files:   SPEADER:port  &   SPROUT:port

Do I have to manually clean this up?

The scheduler appears to be running an earlier version of a process/program.  I have stopped and restarted the scheduler and the deleted and re-entered the entry.  Running the slash command runs the latest version but running the same entry in the scheduler runs a older version.  Why is this happening?

To my understanding there are two output selection methods.
Report writer uses OUTPUT.REDIRECT
(Screen / Print / Aux / Dif / Email / Fax / exceL)
"Output To Print/Email/Fax (P/E/A)"

I am trying to understand and change the options that are shown.
The first, I was able to follow that path of processes but I having no luck on the second.
Can you guide me through the path where the options are being shown?

fileview -p1 filename

This will return information about the file.  Here's a script function that will return files over 1.5G that are 32-bit:

find_big_files() {
        for i in `find . -size +1500M`;do
                BIT32=`fileview -p1 $i | grep "32-bit"`
                if [[ -n "$BIT32" ]];then
                        echo $i

Sorry, I don't know anyone that uses this.  But I've been trying to get some information from ROI for a few weeks now and I'm not exactly impressed with the way he does business.

VertexMV is a menu of programs developed by ROI Syngineering for Sales Tax within Prelude using Vertex L-series tax tables.
One of the options is the Quantum Returns menu that takes the VTXREG (Tax Register) and bundles the data into a TAX2000 file to upload to your PC to be used by the Vertex Sales Tax Returns program.  Has anyone successfully used this process??????????
ROI Syngineering claims his mv clients successfully use this process; that doesn't mean Prelude customers.
Is there anyone with knowledge of this process?
U2 Programming Questions / File types 32Bit & 64bit

We have learned the wonderful benefits of 64bit static files; no size limitation and greater speed.
All of our maintenance reports are searching for files approaching the 2GB size so that we can change them to dynamic.
With 64bit static files that is no longer necessary.   The problem is how to identify a 64bit files from a 32bit static files.
I asked Prelude and they said the only way is running 'guide' the first item indicates standard or 64bit file type in GUIDE_STATS.LIS
Does anyone have a better way to identify file type?
